Awkward Arrival
My clothes kiss my neck for warmth

Tri-Colored lights glow,
from the outside windows
a snow globe effect
created by the
wandering wind.
Jacket pulled up
corners kissing
my neck trying
to comfort me,
before the plunge
into the icy other
world of a holiday
gathering.
Warmth of the home,
isn’t reflected by
familiar faces
sharp edged
cheek bones,
threaten to cut.
Lips purse in a
disappointed
fashion.
Head bows,
my eyes drift down,
feet shift in snow
covered boots,
perpetually lost
at this awkward
arrival.
