How To Overcome Being Bullied

How being bullied made me capable of everything

I know I’m not normal. I was that little shit kid. The truth is that everyone’s sense of normal is wrong. It’s all very subjective how you define it. There’s two things that can be done when this is found out. One is that there’s a forced metamorphosis into what normalcy is. The other option is to in quite literal terms let your freak flag fly. Be yourself and embrace your weirdness to the core of it. I chose option two, always, of letting my freak flag fly.

I was given opportunities to convert into someone’s idea of normalcy. The most prevalent one was in the second grade where my unique, quiet nature perplexed the teacher deeply.

I didn’t talk. This frustrated the school system as well as my inability to socially interact with the other kids. They told me multiple times to be more social. Since I didn’t find anyone that accepted me I kept to myself. I handled any bullying I got from the other kids and just kept even more to myself. I didn’t understand why they picked on me besides that I wasn’t like them. And that of course created fear.

To be honest, I just liked observing the other kids. Like a weird young scientist I liked to watch their interactions. It was during that time in second grade that I was deemed to be mentally retarded…

I'm unapologetically me with a hard edged view of life. I love to travel and have crazy amounts of fun spaced between quiet moments.
