I remember people telling me these words don’t sound like poetry. Or the right kind of poetry. Or the poetry we do, as if it is an exclusive club only the few can get into. I’ve had this feeling before, created without a second thought of my words being worth anything but purging my body. Creating is an exorcism through poetry was always how I planned to do it.

Then, I became published over the internet. I had literary magazines accept my writing, and it seemed like a trick. Who could relate to this? I seemed to bleed in words and then form them into stanzas. This is how I created it. The pain was my perfect vehicle.

When I’ve had people tell me I can’t write, it’s the one thing I can’t do. I’ve always asked have they written emails? Notes? Letters? Writing is a constant in our lives, so we, without overthinking about it, are creators. When I told an artist this belief, they quickly retaliated with, “I think some have a talent for it, and some don’t.”

I'm unapologetically me with a hard edged view of life. I love to travel and have crazy amounts of fun spaced between quiet moments.
