Thank you for including me in your list, Roy! I love your top 40 of things that you enjoy today. Breaking the norms without breaking people totally made me smile. A little of my loves:
- I love my cheerleader, ultimate confidant, enjoyer of my insane thoughts, reader of my mind like Braille. He’s a lot of everything to me. My good people and the best people.
- The way we breathe the same breath at times. Reflect the emotions to each other like we are glass and each other’s mirrors.
- That taste of chai tea in the morning.
- The beauty of the day after it rains.
- How the light streams into my room and greets my body with its touch and invisible warmth.
- The coolness of the air and how it awakens me.
- How I love what I do. I live to do it.
- The community here on Medium. My readers. The fellow writers. The talent, the thoughts, the words and poetry.
- That I get to perform poetry. People enjoy my performing and connect with it.
- My multiple jobs and the hustle I do. The way I can work as many hours and still seem to pep my step at the beginning of my work week.
- That I feel confident, strong, capable and so much more.
- That I have a great support system. That I allow them to support me.
- I love this me that accepts myself. And truly if I accept myself I accept others so much readily. If I show myself kindness I’m able to produce so much more for the people who matter.
- Those people who do matter. They are my matter.
- Whiskey. How it always reminds me of him, the man I love. The heat of it down my throat. The way it warms my insides from the inside out. Whiskey is my drinking metaphor for how I feel when I’m with him.
- I love that I get to meet people in this world and they are open to me. Not only that, but they enjoy me.
- That I can write anonymously in this beautiful forum and spread my wings a bit. Be vulnerable in a way that isn’t normal for me.
- The way my car hums to life each time I put my key in the ignition. That it’s still here after so many years.
- The feel of my body underneath warm, blankets while the air threatens to freeze outside. Probably the swaddle effect there.
- This new year, and how I can face it.
- I love that I can do so much with so little.
- I love that going against the norms is the only way to be. And when I do that it seems like everyone wants to follow me, or at least respect my unusual.
- I love the kindness of others.
So, right now that’s what I got so far. An uneven number but not too bad. I also love that we have such a community here that we look to communicate and inspire each other.
