I’m emotionally incontinent

feelings left strewn about

thrown carelessly at your feet

like LEGO blocks to be avoided

jagged edges facing soft flesh

hoping you step on one,

to feel it for the first time

my words trap in my throat

taking my oxygen,

breath deprived

tongue swollen

I give into the swell

of this rising tide.
